Christmas concert joy!

It was absolutely fabulous to enjoy last Wednesday evening with so many of you at our Pinehill School Christmas Concert and picnic! 2023 has been a remarkable journey at Pinehill School, marked by accomplishments, unity, and a shared sense of joy.
Aside from the January storms, we've navigated the year smoothly, cherishing the gift of uninterrupted learning and the return to a semblance of normalcy.
Our students have not only excelled academically but have also immersed themselves in the richness of extracurricular activities.
From sports teams to cultural performances, and the revival of cherished events like our Matariki celebrations, Culture Parade and school production, this year has truly been a celebration of our school spirit.
As we began the year with a family picnic, it was only fitting to conclude 2023 with another Pinehill picnic and Christmas concert last week. I hope you enjoyed the concert as much as we did, an evening of joy as our students sung and performed so beautifully. We have attached some photos and a video link for you to view and enjoy from the evening.

Thank you Parent Helpers!

Yesterday we held a special onsite morning tea for all our parents who volunteer their time to help us out throughout the year so we could say thank you!

We are very fortunate with the help we receive. We have parents, grandparents and family members come into our classrooms each week to help with a multitude of things. These include coaching and managing a sports team, helping with reading or learning support in the classroom, being a parent helper on class and school trips and EOTC adventures, and leading the Walking School Bus. We have parents who volunteer to help on road patrol all year in rain, hail, thunder and when lucky, a beautiful summer's afternoon.
We value your time and support. When a parent tells us that they have time to come in and help in the classroom, or on a trip, it’s a bit like a Lotto win for us. We get very excited! And of course, the children love you being a part of their school day too. Thank you parents and family members for volunteering and giving your time. We really value this!

A special THANK YOU shout out also to the FOPS (Friends of Pinehill School). This group of mums work tirelessly on fundraising for our school. This year the FOPS group have organised and run fundraisers such as Fun Food Friday, second hand uniform sales, food stalls at our picnic, disco, and the list goes on. Thank you FOPS for all you do to fundraise for our school. You are amazing! Lulu Li, our FOPS chairperson, thank you for leading the FOPS team always with a bright smile and calmness.
Thank you parents, grandparents and family members for volunteering and giving your time to the Pinehill School Family.

End of year message

As the last couple of weeks of the school year approaches, it is natural to ease off your expectations, however we ask that you keep the expectations high. Please keep sending your child to school on time, in the correct uniform and with a healthy lunch, their school hat and all they need for the school day. We will be continuing the learning through into the last week as this is still valuable learning time.
The teachers are currently completing their OTJ’s (Overall Teacher Judgements) on the key learning areas, ready for input into the end of year school report. The report also includes an overall general comment and effort grades for the learning areas. Progress Reports will be given to all students on Wednesday 13th December to take home and share with you. This is also the day you will find out your child’s class for next year.
Students will visit with their new class and teacher the afternoon of Wednesday 13th December. This supports our students with getting to know a little about their teacher, who is in their classroom and overall transition before the first day back next year.
There have been many hours put into class organisation for 2024. Even if you think your child should be with a different teacher, please be positive as all our teachers have great skills to offer. There is no option to move children after the lists are set and your reactions influence how your child will view their new class.
Some classroom moves in the last week of term As part of preparation for 2024, on Monday and Tuesday of week 10, some classes will move to a different classroom for the last few days of the school year. If your child's class moves, a note will be put on the classroom door to let you know 'where has the class moved?'

Room 20 Writing

When I went to the Xmas concert, I was a little bit early. I went to Kapa haka and we sang five waiatas. I was a bit scared. I saw my Mum and other parents who were clapping when the songs finished. I went back to my seat and the other years went to the front and sang their song. When it was our turn, we sang 'All I want for Xmas is my two front teeth.' When it was time for me to go back, I saw my Dad. I went to where my Dad was. I saw colourful picnic blankets everywhere. Finally, I found my blanket and I sat down on my blanket. IU saw somebody was leaving, but I didn't want to leave so I bought a sticker.

At the Christmas Picnic, Room 20, Room 19 and Room 17 were singing a song called 'All I want for Xmas is my two front teeth.' Mum and Dad were watching. Everyone was singing the song. Everyone was eating ice cream and KFC. Room 20 had some Kapa haka people and they were singing songs. It was very fun! I was very happy. Room 2 were singing 'Merry Christmas'.By Emily Gong Room 20 Year 2
