Term 2, Week 10 Wednesday 3rd July 2024

Message from our Principal

Kia ora tatou,

We are finishing the term, learning right up until the very last minute, and with the much anticipated event each year - the school disco!

There is much excitement amongst the students this week as we have our school Disco this evening. The theme is ‘Pyjama Party Disco’ and we look forward to our tamariki turning up in their PJs and enjoying an evening of connecting with friends, dancing, enjoying food treats and having fun. Please note the disco is for current students attending Pinehill School only (no pre school or ex students). The Junior Disco (Y0-Y3) is first up at 5:00pm, with a 6:15pm pick up. The doors will open for the Senior Disco (Y4-Y6) at 6:30pm with an 8:00pm pick up. We ask students don’t bring more than $10 to spend on drinks and snacks and that they have something secure to keep their spending money in (jacket zip up pocket, disco zip up handbag that can be worn over the shoulder etc and kept zipped up while students are mixing, mingling and of course dancing). Thank you to our FOPs committee members for your organisation of this event. We can’t wait.

Mid Year Progress Report
On Friday your child will be bringing home a mid year progress school report. Please take time to go through this and if there is anything you are unsure of or would like further information about, please do not hesitate to email your child’s teacher to further discuss.

Enjoy the school holiday break coming up. We look forward to seeing everyone back for Term 3 on Monday 22nd July. We will welcome our new students and families to Pinehill School on the first day at Pinehill School with a whakatau, which will take place in the school hall at 9:00am. All are welcome to join us as we welcome everyone new to our place.

Ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi, engari he toa takitini
Success is not the work of one, but the work of many.

Ngā mihi nui,

Mufti Day - Gold Coin Donation

The Year 5/6 Team is holding a 'Green Mufti Day' this Friday to raise money towards the cost of our bus to Helensville for our annual tree planting day. This mufti day is open to the whole school, so bring along a gold coin donation and let's turn our school green this Friday. Thank you for your support.

Swimming Lessons - Term 3

Our swimming programme begins in week one of term three. Swimming is a vital part of our P.E. programme and is aimed at giving all our children confidence in the water. We would appreciate your support in making sure your child comes prepared with the right gear on their swimming day. Children who aren't able to swim due to illness or injury should bring an explanation note to their teacher.

Pinehill School Art Exhibition

Can you help? Truck required

In September, Pinehill is holding its biennial Art Exhibition. For this event, we hire screens which we pay quite a bit of money to transport to and from Pinehill. We wonder if there is a parent who has a small truck who would generously donate their time and truck to help with transportation, even one way.
There are 30 screens in total - 15 sized 1800 x 2000 cm; 15 sized 1200 x 2000 cm.
If you are able to help, please contact mark@pinehill.school.nz or 021722529

House Leaders Garden Project

For our house leader project, we have been working on the garden. We are transforming it into something really beautiful. We have had lots of help from friends, family and our lovely teacher, Mrs Johnston. We could not have done it without them. They were amazing. Here are some photos from the garden and how we transformed it.🫠

This is how it looked before we worked on it🤢 and after we worked on it!
We have planted pansies, violas, primroses, and lavenders in our flower patch. We are planning to have an area for berries. Currently, there are only two berry vines in the patch. In spring, we will fill the patch with strawberries.

We have also planted daffodils, freesias, and irises in the garden. We are looking forward to beautiful blooming flowers in Spring.

What are we going to do next?🧐

In early Spring and summer, we are going to germinate some seeds for the veggie patch, plant strawberries, and add more flowers to cultivate a flourishing garden. We hope that the classes can enjoy them.
