INTRODUCING

Amy Koh

Hello, Kia ora, Ni hao, annyeonghaseyo.

My name is Amy Koh and I am excited to be part of the Year 5/6 team, teaching Year 6 in Room 4.

After graduating from the University of Waikato with a Bachelor of Teaching, I moved to the North Shore, Auckland at the beginning of 2019. I started my teaching career at Murrays Bay Intermediate School and continued teaching in the year 7 and 8 age group until 2022, when I decided to try relieving to expand my experience in teaching at different year levels and different areas in Auckland. I ended up at Pinehill School last year and I am thrilled to be part of a wonderful and supportive community.

I consider myself a proud Kiwi-Korean. I was born in South Korea but grew up in Hamilton after immigrating to New Zealand at the age of one. I feel very fortunate to have a family that invested in my education as well as making sure that I was taught to have knowledge of my culture and mother tongue. Thus, I understand the importance of academic achievement as well as excelling in other curricular areas such as music and sports. I play multiple musical instruments like the piano and ukulele and enjoy netball and martial arts.

Other than teaching, I love to dance. I currently attend a dance academy in Wairau Valley, which I attend almost every day. I am part of a dance crew and participate in street style dance competitions whenever I get the chance. In 2024 my studio’s crew participated in a well-known competition called World of Dance and placed 1st in New Zealand and in 2025 our team went to Korea to compete internationally.. With my passion for dance, I am also delighted to continue leading and organising Jump Jam for Pinehill School.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me at amy@pinehill.school.nz if you have any questions.
