Jodie Oh
INTRODUCING
Jodie Oh
Kia ora. My name is Jodie Oh and I will be teaching Year 3 in Room 1. I born in South Korea and grew up on the North Shore. I completed my Graduate Diploma in Teaching in 2015 and taught in South Korea and Christchurch before residing back in Auckland.
All my positive, wonderful childhood memories are derived from the schooling I experienced on the North Shore. I enjoy travelling, tramping, cooking playing the violin.
In the beginning of the year, I ensure I find out about my students’ interests as it is the door to unlocking their potential and passion. I believe that real learning occurs when students are motivated and curious, leading them to take ownership of their learning. I would like my students to see how their interests are connected to the curriculum areas and find a purpose for their learning.
I enjoy providing activities that will help them enhance creativity, collaboration and critical thinking skills, and hands-on experiences that are relevant to their lives. I like teaching all curriculum areas, especially literacy, numeracy and the arts.
I also believe that students thrive when they are confident about their culture, language and identity. It is important for them to realise we are all unique and come from different backgrounds that make us who we are. As a class whānau, we will have opportunities to share about ourselves and celebrate diversity.
I am also excited to teach and learn Te Reo Māori with my students. Te Reo will be integrated into daily teaching where students will understand the bicultural foundations of New Zealand.
Routines and Expectations in Room 1:
● The school day starts at 8:50 am. Children should arrive before the bell rings, so they have time to organise themselves for the day.
● In Terms 1 and 4, their hats will be kept in their bags and worn during morning tea, lunch and outdoor activities.
● Our library day is every Monday. Children need to return their library book before issuing a new book the following Monday.
● The Pinehill Way underpins our attitude in all areas of school life. This includes striving to do our best and relating to others positively.
