Term 4, Week 7 Wednesday 19th November 2025

Principals Message

Kia ora tatou, Mālō e lelei, Ann yeong haseyo, Ni hao, Dzień dobry, Buenos días, Bom dia,

As this term continues to fly by, each week brings a new flurry of events!

We are incredibly proud of our students for representing the school with such enthusiasm and skill. Over the past week I have been privileged to watch our Pinehill School basketball teams and netball teams in action.

Celebrating Our Sports Teams

Over the past week, our teams have been busy:
  • 5 Spring Netball teams at Pinehurst
  • 6 basketball teams (Years 2–6) at the Breakers gym
It has been wonderful to see students working collaboratively, communicating, strategising, showing resilience, and demonstrating sportsmanship. The Pinehill Way is shining through in all our teams!
A huge thank you to our dedicated coaches and managers for giving our students these opportunities.

Lunch box challenge — Let’s Finish the Year Wrapper-Free!

With just 22 school days left in the year, we’re inviting all Pinehill students and families to join our 22-Day Wrapper-Free Lunchbox Challenge!

At assembly, I encouraged our tamariki to help us make a real difference by bringing lunches that are wrapper-free. This doesn’t mean students can’t enjoy their favourite snacks — muesli bars, chips, and other items that come in packets are still absolutely fine. We’re simply asking that wrappers stay at home and that snacks are packed into reusable containers instead.

Why? Because the amount of rubbish and wrappers ending up around our school grounds each day has become a growing issue. Together, we can turn this around and finish the year strong with cleaner grounds and more sustainable habits.
Let’s show what Pinehill can do when we work together. Challenge accepted?

School Process with Concerns

Our Raising and Responding to Concerns policy reminds all parents, caregivers, and visitors to contribute positively to everyone’s emotional and physical welfare in our community. This applies both on school grounds and during school off-site activities.

We kindly ask that if you have concerns about a child’s behaviour, you do not approach the child directly. Instead, please bring your concern to the teacher or a staff member. Following this process helps us ensure the safety and well-being of all children.

Thank you for partnering with us to create a supportive environment where every child can flourish.

Creative Playbox Featured in Education Gazette

We are thrilled to share that Pinehill School has featured in a recent Education Gazette article highlighting schools creating rich, imaginative play opportunities for students.
Our Creative Playbox was recognised for encouraging problem-solving, collaboration, creativity, and joyful play through student-led exploration. Since publication, we have already had interest from other schools and organisations wanting to visit and see the Playbox in action.

KidsCan Mufti Day

Last week’s KidsCan Mufti Day was a huge success, raising $650. This generous donation will provide 200 breakfasts to students in need. Thank you to everyone who contributed!

Update on Ruru and Administration Blocks

Our property team recently met with the Ministry of Education regarding the Administration Block near the hall. It was confirmed at the meeting that the Admin block will be demolished over the holiday break. Key updates:
  • Fencing will be installed on Saturday 20th December and remain until demolition and landscaping are complete. The school carpark can not be used during this time.
  • The current Administration Block will be demolished over the school holidays, and the area will be landscaped.
  • At this stage, no new administration block will be built on this site.
  • The existing office modular block may become permanent, but we are awaiting confirmation.
  • Please note: During demolition, the school car park will be closed.
The project is expected to be complete before students return for Whānau Connect meetings on Thursday 5th February 2026.

Yummy Stickers = Sports Gear

Thank you to families who collected Yummy stickers this year! FoPS organised the collection, and we received $260, which has been used to purchase a new T-ball set (bat, balls, stand, and carry bag) for students to enjoy next year.
Keep collecting stickers so we can continue to fund great sports gear for our school!

Ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi, engari he toa takitini
Success is not the work of one, but the work of many.
