Message from our Principal

Kia ora koutou, Mālō e lelei, Annyeong haseyo, Nǐ hǎo, Dzień dobry,

Since the last newsletter, we have had a week of celebration at Pinehill School! Not only does learning continue to blossom and thrive in all our classrooms, but also in the community at inter school events.

Mathex -Pinehill Places first in Mathex Competition! Wahooo!

Congratulations to our students who represented Pinehill School at the Inter School Mathex last Wednesday. Ms Donaldson and Mrs Milne attended this event with our students, and there was a buzz of excitement on their return. The students have put a lot of mahi in each week practising challenging maths problems leading up to the event. We have had reports come back from teachers and parents who attended, regarding the outstanding collaboration, work effort and excellent display of the Pinehill Way from all our Pinehill Mathex representatives.

Placings have now been sent through to all competing schools and I am delighted to confirm, Team 2 (Ian, Kevin, Michael, Oliver) placed 1st out of 53 teams and completed their questions in 14.53 minutes. Phenomenal!

Team 1 (Ori, Vihaan, Cindy, Olivia) placed 4th,
Team 3 (Darren, Jonathan, Quentin, Edus) placed 7th,
Team 4 (Dahamlee, Eva, Wendy Emily) placed 12th equal.

We are very proud of our students and their efforts. Go Pinehill!

    Cluster Cross Country

Congratulations to all the runners who represented Pinehill School at the Super Cluster Cross Country last Thursday. Mr van Beusekom and Mr Duffin attended this event with our runners and came back full of praise. Praise for the effort our runners put in and praise for the wonderful ambassadors our runners were for Pinehill School. We are very proud of all our runners and their efforts at the Cluster Cross Country for the way they proudly displayed the Pinehill Way at this inter-school event.

School Disco - Thursday 25th June

The school disco is coming up! There is much excitement amongst the students as we draw nearer to our school Disco next Thursday evening. This year's theme is ‘Movie Characters’ – we can’t wait to see our tamariki dressed as their favourite characters. Please note: the disco is for current Pinehill School students only (no preschoolers or former students).

The Junior Disco (Y0-Y3) is first up at 5:00pm, with a 6:15pm finish and pick up. The doors will open for the Senior Disco (Y4-Y6) at 6:30pm with an 8:00pm finish and pick up. We ask students don’t bring more than $20 to spend on drinks and snacks and that they have something secure to keep their spending money in (jacket zip up pocket, disco zip up handbag that can be worn over the shoulder etc and kept zipped up while students mix, mingle – and of course, dance the night away!

Thank you to our FOPs committee members for your organisation of this event. We can’t wait.

    Mid-Year Progress Report

Next Friday 26th June, your child's mid-year progress report will be in HERO. We encourage you to open this and take the time to read through this carefully. If there’s anything you are unsure of or would like further information about, there will be an opportunity to discuss it at the upcoming Three Way Conferences (3WCs) . See details below.
Please note Reporting to parents has changed throughout NZ. These reports will look very different to previous reports and there will be separate information coming out on Hero explaining this further.

    Three Way Conferences (3WCs) – Wednesday 1st July & Thursday 2nd July

Our Three Way Conferences will take place on Wednesday 1st July and Thursday 2nd July, giving whānau the opportunity to discuss their child’s mid-year report, clarify any questions, and engage in conversations about their child’s learning achievements and next steps.
    • Wednesday 1st July: Conferences begin at 1:30pm. School will finish at the usual time of 3:00pm. The students will be in a singing assembly during this afternoon block, so if you have a conference in the afternoon block, you can collect your child from the hall to take to the conference,
    • Thursday 2nd July: Conferences continue and school will finish at the normal time of 3:00pm.
To book a Three Way Conference Time slot - please book this on Hero. You should have received notification via Hero already. It is open for booking now.
