Term 2, Week 11 Wednesday 1 July 2026

Message from our Principal

Kia ora koutou, Mālō e lelei, Annyeong haseyo, Nǐ hǎo, Dzień dobry.
Ngā mihi o Matariki, te tau hou Māori – Happy Matariki everyone!

Matariki is nearly here! Across Aotearoa, this special occasion is celebrated as Māori New Year. It is an important time to celebrate the earth and show respect for the land. It is about coming together, sharing stories, acknowledging the past and those who have passed away, planning for the future, and feasting on the crops harvested.

Matariki at Pinehill School- Friday 3rd July at 9:00am

We are finishing Term 2 together with a Matariki celebration. You are warmly invited to our Matariki morning celebration in the school hall this Friday 3rd July at 9:00am.

Our phenomenal Kapa Haka group will open the morning. Afterward, classes will return to their rooms for a Matariki-themed activity that children will complete with their whānau. Parents are welcome to join their child in class for this special activity or craft.

Following this, each class will host a small shared kai. We invite students to bring a small plate of food to contribute.

This special celebration reflects the 2026 theme: Matariki Herenga Waka–For everyone. All are welcome – we hope to see you there!

Kapa Haka are at Murrays Bay Matariki Festival tomorrow

We are very proud of our Kapa Haka group. Tomorrow they will be performing at the Matariki Festival hosted at Murrays Bay School, alongside our Mid Bays Cluster School Kapa Haka groups.

All Pinehill whānau are warmly invited to attend and be part of this celebration. Many thanks to our Kapa Haka teachers, Karen Wilson-Perry and Alastair Rogers who teach, guide and support the Kapa Haka group to be the amazing group they are.

Important Site Notice: Ruru Block Demolition

This is the last school newsletter for the term and things will look a bit different on our return.
The demolition of the Ruru block will take place during the holidays.
    • Fenced Area: This area will be completely fenced off, which includes a quarter of our front staff car park.
    • Staff Parking: Staff will be double-parking for some time to manage the lost space.
    • Visitor Parking: We kindly ask that when you visit the school, you please park on a side road and walk into the grounds while we navigate this building project.

Start of Term 3 – Monday 20 July

We look forward to welcoming everyone back for Term 3 on Monday 20 July. A whakatau will be held at 9:00am in the school hall to welcome our new students and whānau. All are warmly invited to attend.
We wish you a wonderful, safe, and relaxing holiday break ahead!

    Thank You!

A huge thank you to all the parents, students, teachers and volunteers who supported last Thursday's School Disco. From our wonderful parent helpers and baking donations to everyone who attended, your support made the event such a success. It was fantastic to see so many children enjoying the evening!

If you'd like to help with future FoPS events, even just occasionally, we'd love to have you join our FoPS Casual Helpers WhatsApp group.

Our final FoPS activity this term is Fun Food Friday this Friday. Pizza orders close at midnight tonight, so don't forget to place your order.

Over the holidays, you can also support FoPS by collecting Yummy Apple Stickers or purchasing an Entertainment Book for your family outings.

Thank you for your support this term. Have a safe and happy holiday, and we'll see you in Term 3!
