Term 2, Week 7 Wednesday 3 June 2026

Kia ora tatou, Mālō e lelei, Annyeong haseyo, Ni hao, Dzień dobry

I hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful long weekend with their families. It was delightful to see the children arrive at school, full of stories about their weekend adventures and feeling refreshed for the week ahead.

Whole School Fun Run Thank You!

Our Pinehill Fun Run last week was filled with energy, teamwork, and colour! It was wonderful to see so many parents and whānau supporting our tamariki. I especially loved seeing the colourful t-shirts proudly worn afterward – such a fun and memorable day for all.

Rather than me writing further about the Fun Run, please read Hazel's amazing writing recount of the afternoon, followed by a fabulous video Mrs Homan put together. The laughter and squeals of delight in the background speak volumes! VIDEO here of - FUN RUN 2026

The Fun Run!

At Pinehill School in the afternoon, it was the Fun Run! I quietly dashed to the bathroom taking my fresh new clothes with me. It took me a short while before I shouted, “I’m done.” Then, I went to join Sabrina on the top playground. After a few minutes, loudly the bell rang!

First, as me and Sabrina quietly entered the room, I was shivering full of excitement. After we did the afternoon roll and finishing, we all lined up impatiently for the Fun Run. “Best day ever,” I squealed. I was so excited. I sounded like a screeching parrot.

Next, our class was walking to the field and you couldn’t believe what I saw! There was a bubbly waterslide, a huge bouncy castle, and lots of colourful courses to run through. We waited a long time for our turn to go down the waterslide. When it was my classes turn, I had to take off my running shoes, and before you know it, I jumped onto my tummy head first onto the waterslide!! I wooshed past everyone at high speed!

Finally, after I did almost five laps of running with Sabrina, it was time to leave. Sabrina and I felt exhausted after all that running. When my Mum picked me up from school, I felt tired but extremely happy. We went home, and I took a bath. It was the best day I’ve ever had.

    Keeping Our Children Safe

Following the last newsletter on safe road crossings, all classes at Pinehill School have had a road safety session with Constable Tania Wansink. Constable Wansink gave a consistent learning message to the students: when needing to cross the road, 'Stop, Look, and Listen'.

This means stopping first, then looking to your right, left, right, and left again to check that there are no cars coming, or that they are slowing down and stopping so you can cross. Listening is just as important. With many electric vehicles on our roads, it can be hard to hear traffic coming, which is why all three steps are vital.

Please reinforce these road safety messages with your children at home. We all want the same thing – for our children to be safe. Thank you for your ongoing support with this.
