INTRODUCING
Marie Homan
My name is Marie Homan, and I am excited to be teaching Year 3 in Room 3 in 2026. I look forward to the opportunity to get to know you and your child over the coming year.
Outside of the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my family, walking my adorable little dog, Millie, travelling, and capturing memories through photography. I am also the proud mother of three wonderful grown-up children and a grandmother to two gorgeous grandchildren, who bring me so much joy.
I have had the privilege of teaching across all year levels of the school. I believe that the early years of schooling are critical, as they lay the foundation for all future learning. I find great joy in teaching reading and writing, and I particularly enjoy sharing my knowledge and experience of teaching BSLA and Writers Toolbox programs to help children develop their literacy skills.
Before becoming a teacher, I worked as a graphic artist and a music teacher, so I love integrating art and music into my lessons, providing a creative and engaging approach to learning. For me, the most rewarding part of teaching is seeing the moment when a child’s face lights up with understanding or when they gain confidence in their abilities. Celebrating a child’s progress and achievements is truly fulfilling, and I feel privileged to play a part in shaping their learning journey.
What happens in Room 03
● When your child gets to school in the morning, they need to hang up their bag, put their bookbag in the box, their drink bottle on the bench and their hat in their tote tray. Then they need to come and say, “Good Morning.” After that, they need to choose a quiet activity in the classroom, or play outside until the bell.
● Your child needs to be at school in plenty of time to get organised for the day before the bell rings at 8.50am. If your child arrives after the roll has been called, they will need to go to the office to sign in.
● Please check that your child has a named school uniform. They will need to have a hat in Term 1 and 4. Your child will need to bring their book bag to school each day. Book bags are essential every day, but are particularly important on Tuesday for our Library day, and on Friday so that they can take their Reading book and Poem book home.
● Regular communication is important. Messages will come to you through the Hero app. Please make sure that you have the app installed and that you check the messages often for updates. Hero is also the place where you can send me a message about your child, book a meeting with me, or let us know about your child’s absence from school.
● I strongly believe in the value of open communication, and I am always happy to discuss your child’s progress and any questions or concerns you may have. I have an open-door policy, and I look forward to working together to ensure the best possible learning experience for your child in 2025.
