Ricarda Petzer
Hi there, my name is Ricarda Petzer.
I have been a teacher at Pinehill School for over 4 years now, starting my journey as reliver and then became a classroom teacher.
After completing my Honours Degree in Education and starting my teaching career in South Africa, I immigrated to New Zealand in 2019 and have been fortunate to be part of the Pinehill community since then. I have recently become a mum to my little boy, Lennox, who is now 10 months old. He, too, has been a part of the Pinehill community from a very
young age, as we participated in the Roots of Empathy Programme last year – you might have seen him around at school.
After being off on maternity leave for the past year, I look forward to once again teach the Year 5/6 students, this time once a week, alongside Mark Van Dam. I especially look forward to working with the students, particularly to embrace the enthusiasm and character the students display during this year level. I love teaching all curriculum subjects, but particularly enjoy teaching art, literacy, and maths.
The highlight of teaching for me is working with students every day, developing their academic (and social) achievements. This is particularly the case, when I see that smile come across a child’s face because they understand or feel confident about their learning. I enjoy an approach to learning where
students can celebrate their learning success and feel proud of themselves for reaching such high expectations.
I have an open-door policy or feel free to contact me via email at ricarda@pinehill.school.nz
Warm regards,
Ricarda Petzer
