INTRODUCING

Siu Ling Kuan

Kia Ora, Ni Hao, Nei Hou, Apa Khabar!

I am excited to join the Pinehill School teaching staff and community of learners and Whānau. I have
been teaching for 26 years and within that I have been an ESOL teacher for 9 years. I will be using my
language and teaching skills to help our tamariki thrive and develop a love for learning.

I believe in making learning fun and inclusive through having students input and ongoing progress
checks to ensure students are tracking well with their learning. I look forward to meeting our students
and working collaboratively with students to grow their language skills, through adopting BSLA and
Writers Toolkit strategies to engage students in interesting, meaningful and enjoyable learning
experiences.

A little bit about myself:

I was born in Malaysia and I arrived in Auckland, New Zealand in 1991. I love living in New Zealand with
my family and I live with my husband and 2 children, who are 18 and 15 years old.

In my spare time, I enjoy going to the gym and indulging in art. I belong to an archery club where I
volunteer as an archery coach
